Let’s Send Diana to the Opera
1/13/15 – Lyric Opera of Chicago has offered to donate tickets for Diana, her sister, and caretakers to see the opera! We are so grateful for their generosity, and we will now be able to get Diana to the opera much sooner. We have lowered the funding goal for this dream, as we’re now only raising money for transportation, refreshments, and a videographer.
Thank you, Lyric Opera!
Diana is a resident at Bethesda Home in Chicago, and has lived in Chicago her entire life. Growing up, Diana was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan and loved ballet. When she was just a young woman she attended her first opera. She instantly fell in love with everything about the opera, especially the music. She went to as many performances as she could and kept track of the 150+ shows she attended. She’s proud of her collection of autographs from the many talented singers she has seen.
At 92 years old, Diana is happy to have her health and her mind. She has been dreaming of returning to the opera for over 8 years, but has not been able to afford the ticket and handicap transportation. We hope to fulfill Diana’s dream by taking her back to the opera and to surprise her by bringing along her sister, Jess.
Hometown: Chicago, IL.
Career: Factory worker during WWII, then she worked in the insurance industry.
Family: Diana is close with her sister, Jess, who also lives in Chicagoland.
We’re raising money to pay for:
- Opera Tickets
- Handicap accessible transportation
- Refreshments during the show
- A video shooter/editor to capture the event
